WELCOME
We are the second oldest active Methodist church in Tidewater and one of the oldest Methodist churches in America. Founded in 1772 in Norfolk Cumberland Street Methodist Church has occupied a spot in Norfolk history from before the Revolution to today. Our current congregation moved to the beautiful, residential area of Lafayette in 1922 and was renamed First Methodist Church. All are welcome to join us in the praise and service of Jesus Christ.
HOW WE SHARE OUR GIFTS
We partner with St. Columba, Union Mission, ForKids, Habitat for Humanity and our local elementary school to serve the people of our community. We support mission with time, talent and gifts throughout the year. We directly employ local underemployed persons to help in the upkeep of our spacious facility.
