HOW WE SHARE OUR GIFTS

Asbury Farms is an ambitious undertaking based on the vision of turning once blighted land into a buffet of fresh fruits and vegetables. Asbury Farms sits in the middle of a community facing substantial food insecurity. And as a result of lead that was present in the public water supply for over a year before it became public knowledge, daily nutrition for our residents is crucial for keeping the negative affects of lead poisoning dormant. Asbury Farms is the fruit of one of Asbury CDC’s key strategic goals — to be a center for health and wellness. To volunteer go to FlintAsbury.org.
The Asbury Community Help Center provides food, bottled water, and other services each Tuesday from 10 am to 2 PM - our until supplies are exhausted. Volunteers start showing up at 8 am.
ASBURY FARM TO TABLE -- Transforming a food desert into abundance is life giving. And Asbury wants to make sure that produce is available on the tables of our residents. Our culinary arts and nutritional education programs offer residents the know how just as our farms offers nature’s bounty. The Asbury Café is a culinary experience assessable to our neighbors and anyone with an appetite. Our “pay what you can” approach means that no one is turned away. Those who can help either on the farm or in the café are offered special MyFlintStones tokens that can be used either in the Asbury Café or in exchange for produce to prepare at home.
