Since the local Meals on Wheels program was discontinued, church members who had helped with that effort quickly coordinated with like-minded community members and businesses to fill that need by forming Hastings Homebound ministry, finding funding, financially supporting, and distributing fresh food to local shut-ins weekly. In 2017, our small congregation was moved by the Spirit to bring hope to our community via the Hastings Boulevard Car Show, shutting down a portion of Hastings Main Street for a car show with community vendors and music. Members lead our town's local youth football & cheer association, and offer physical and financial support to ensure our young people can experience a safe and hope-filled sports experience like others from larger communities. Our yearly Family Vacation Bible Week is a chance for everyone in the community to learn about the Bible by reliving the stories of God's leaders through skits, costumes, food, crafts, singing, and play. We support our Cancer Care ministry and have Children's Church. And we are custodians of a priceless stone and stained glass sanctuary, built in 1917 and a beautiful example of our community's past and future. We are a small multi-talented congregation with a love for God's people around us, willing to step out of the box to do the impossible for others.
