Multimedia News Reporter (Nashville, TN, 37203)

Gathers and disseminates news of The United Methodist Church through multimedia platforms (print, audio, video and Internet).

Essential Job Functions:

1. Reports news and tells the church’s stories by identifying topics, researching them, conducting interviews and writing stories. Covers a beat and develops both breaking news stories and enterprise features. Posts frequent blogs on the UMNS Facebook page and uses other social media regularly.


2. Contributes to the team’s multimedia work by gathering audio and shooting photos and video; and working to ensure necessary elements are available for each story (Web links, photos, audio and video clips).


3. Participates as a team member by communicating effectively with everyone else on the team; contributing to the UMNS coverage calendar; suggesting contacts and story ideas; giving editorial input; proofing stories and Web pages; and handling other news team duties assigned by editors.


4. Works proactively with other United Methodist Communications teams and other general agencies to keep informed of news and collaborate on story ideas.
